How to Make Bedroom Bench

Dec 22nd

Building bedroom bench at the end of your bed is a simple craft project that you can finish in an afternoon. The benefits of having a bench in your bedroom include additional seating and extra storage space if you choose to attach the base of your bench. Add a thick pillow and some decorative pillows to comfort or leave your bench slim and easily design your bench to complement the existing decor of your bedroom.

Determine the length, width and depth of your bedroom bench based on the size of your bed and your personal preference. Create a materials list, complete with concrete measurements. For a rectangular bench, use two 2 x 4 s cut to length, two 2 x 4s cut to width, and two ¾ inch plywood slices cut to fit as a base and a top on your bed bench. You will also need one or two 2 x 2 brace supports, depending on the length of your bed bench.

The posts, or legs, of your bedroom bench can be made from premade posts, or you can get 2 x 2’s cut to fit. You can find the trim to the sides of your bedside bench with other decorative moldings. Your local home improvement shop will often cut the material to size for you at no extra charge. This will save you a lot of time and trouble in your home. Assemble your materials and start building the frame for your bed bench by fastening two longest 2 x 4’s to the two 2 x 4 pieces cut to the sides of your bench frame with screws and a screwdriver. You will get a square when done.
